Visions of Ubicomp Film Contest

Get your imaginations flowing and summon your inner director for the first annual Visions of Ubicomp Film Contest.

The goal of the contest is to showcase our community’s vision for the future of Ubicomp technologies using the medium and language of film. Contestants will create a short film (under 5 minutes) that illustrates a future vision for a Ubicomp technology, artifact, system, or service. The underlying technology behind the vision doesn’t have to exist, so let your imagination run free and unencumbered by technical details. Click here for some inspirations.

Contestants will show their short films at the conference. Some award categories will be chosen by a panel and others will be chosen via voting by Ubicomp attendees. Winners will be announced at the conference.

AWARDS

So what do you get by participating? Well, you get to show off your vision to the Ubicomp community. Of course, there are also awards up for grabs. If you get one, you may get your fifteen minutes of fame. Stay tuned; the award categories will be announced later.

HOW TO ENTER

Brainstorm an idea for a Ubicomp future. Create a video of your vision. The video should be no longer than five minutes. Prepare your video in the format that can be viewed by the largest number of people with the highest quality (suggested format). Send the film as an attachment to submissions@visionsofubicomp.com

IMPORTANT DATES

• August 12 - Entry deadline

• September 17-20 - Videos shown and voting

• September 20 - Winner announced
