UbiComp / ISWC 2026
Call for Participation: Education Forum

Submission Deadline: July 1, 2026 (AoE)

The Education Forum is a brand-new, invitation-based track at ACM UbiComp/ISWC 2026, offering a dedicated space for educators to share teaching innovations and technology-enhanced pedagogy in ubiquitous and pervasive computing. We invite leading educators and researchers to contribute writeups on creative approaches to teaching in our field and to present their work as posters at the main conference.

All accepted submissions will be included as extended abstracts in the UbiComp/ISWC 2026 Companion Proceedings and in the ACM Digital Library. As UbiComp/ISWC 2026 is expected to be a fully in-person event, all accepted submissions should have at least one author (including student co-authors) who is registered and able to travel to the conference to present a poster.

Summary of Key Dates

All times are in Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time zone.

  • July 1, 2026: Submission deadline
  • July 24, 2026: Camera-ready deadline (including ACM Rights Forms and other logistics)
  • October 13-15, 2026: UbiComp/ISWC 2026 conference in Shanghai, China

Topics of Interest

We are looking for contributions that highlight creative approaches to teaching in ubiquitous and pervasive computing. Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Novel course designs for ubiquitous or wearable computing
  • Classroom studies evaluating pedagogical methods
  • Use of AI or other emerging technologies to support learning
  • Teaching reform initiatives in computing education
  • Hands-on or project-based learning experiences with ubicomp systems
  • Curriculum development for interdisciplinary computing programs
  • Strategies for integrating research into the classroom

If you have done something interesting in the classroom, we would love to hear about it.

Submission Component: Extended Abstract (required)

Submissions consist of an extended abstract that discusses the novelty and distinguishing ideas your work brings to the UbiComp/ISWC education community. The abstract should be self-contained and understandable on its own. Extended abstracts can be up to 4 pages long, in the 2-column ACM Proceedings format, excluding references.

For details about the template, please refer to the UbiComp/ISWC template and formatting.

Past Conferences

The ACM international joint conference on Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing (UbiComp) is the result of a merger of the two most renowned conferences in the field: Pervasive and UbiComp. While it retains the name of the latter in recognition of the visionary work of Mark Weiser, its long name reflects the dual history of the new event.

The ACM International Symposium on Wearable Computing (ISWC) discusses novel results in all aspects of wearable computing, and has been colocated with UbiComp and Pervasive since 2013.

A complete list of UbiComp, Pervasive, and ISWC past conferences is provided below.
