Convenient Melbourne CBD location
Full-time, 12 month fixed term position
About the project.
The two software engineer positions will be embedded in an Australian
Research Council (ARC) Linkage project with Arup, in collaboration
with Melbourne Airport and other partners, on integrating data at
airports to provide an enhanced customer experience. Both roles are
based at RMIT, Arup and other locations related to the research as
required.
Senior Project Officer (Senior Software Engineer). The position will
support research aims in the areas of data integration, real-time data
analysis, and related cloud computing services in the context of big
data and the Internet of Things (IoT). The appointee will investigate
a range of data at airports including passenger, transport and WiFi
data. They will work with the supervisors on the development and
evaluation of architectures, models, platforms and algorithms. The
appointee will design and carry out experiments to test the
performance and computational demands of competing solutions and
integrating different datasets.
Project Officer (Software Engineer). The appointee will investigate a
range of data at airports including passenger, transport and Wi-Fi
data. They will create visualisations of existing data and projections
of future simulated data integrations. The position will support
research aims in the areas of data integration and visualisation and
play a critical role on this project in bridging the gap between
industry and academia.
About the Research Environment.
RMIT's School of Computer Science and Information Technology is one of
Australia's largest schools. The School is home to world class
research in the areas of search, databases, service computing, AI, and
distributed and cloud computing. Our research work has been supported
by numerous research grants including, the Australian Research Council
(ARC), Local and State Governments, Google, Yahoo, DSTO, CSIRO, Qatar
Foundation, the European Union, etc. In addition to highly cited
researchers, the school is home to 1 ACM and 2 IEEE Fellows. The
school has more than 90 PhD students and prides itself on the quality
of its graduates, achieved through programs that have a strong
emphasis on both theory and practice, and seeks to make a significant
contribution to computing and IT education and research.
