Hello -
I have an opening for someone to do statistical analysis of data collected from app deployments. The post is set within a UK EPSRC programme grant that links Computing Science at U. Glasgow and Statistics at U. Warwick:
http://www.softwarepopulations.com
The Populations programme is making new user experiences, but at the same time it is developing new ways to study and model large app deployments so as to support evaluation and redesign.
We are looking for a researcher who has a PhD or is near to finishing one, to join my research group in Glasgow and to focus on using statistics/inference within app redesign. He or she would be working with colleagues who are building up a range of new tools for modelling, analysis and visualisation, and carrying out studies and evaluations of our apps. Part of the role of this work is to link between software/interaction designers and formal modellers in University of Glasgow, and statisticians in University of Warwick. It means being a part of a team doing large-scale trials of novel phone-based applications in the area of mobile/ubiquitous computing—more particularly, in mobile games, mobile health and future cities.
Please mail me if you have questions, but please also have a look at the (rather dry and formal) job description here:
http://www.gla.ac.uk/about/jobs/vacancies/ (use reference 010556)
and here:
http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/ALG604/research-assistant-associate/
The deadline for applications is June 30th.
Thanks,
—Matthew
