UBICOMP 2002 Doctoral Consortium Submission

You have reached the Doctoral Consortium information page for the 4th International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing (UBICOMP 2002). The Doctoral Consortium provides an opportunity for Ph.D. students to meet and discuss their dissertation plans with each other and a group of experienced ubicomp researchers. Preference will be given to Applicants who are beyond the proposal stage and are into their dissertation research. 8-10 participants will be chosen and will give short presentations of their research, followed by a discussion. The Consortium will be held on September 29, 2002.

Please make sure to review the instructions provided in the Call for Participation in preparing your submission. Your submission should be a single PDF file that includes the following information:

2-page extended abstract of your dissertation research for inclusion in the conference adjunct publications. Please use the ACM CHI conference format or a similar 2-column format (click here for an example of the suggested format, in PDF)

1-page biographical statement (including educational background and research experience) and statement of what you would like to gain from the consortium.
Letter of recommendation from your thesis advisor that includes an assessment of your research and your expected timetable for completion. The letter should also outline what your advisor expects you to gain from, and contribute to, the consortium. You may have your advisor submit this letter directly, or include it in your submission.

Accepted submissions will appear in an adjunct conference publication and will be presented as posters during the conference. Some financial support is available for travel, thanks to our sponsor Intel Research.
