Call for Participation: Workshop "A Sandbox for (Designing) Democratic Technologies"
1 December 2025 | Enna, Italy | In-person at MUM 2025


We invite researchers, designers, and practitioners to join our full-day, in-person workshop "A Sandbox for (Designing) Democratic Technologies" at MUM 2025.

The workshop explores how interactive systems can promote democratic values, civic participation, and societal care through hands-on design activities, low-fidelity prototyping, and critical reflection.


How to participate:
Submit either
    • a 2-4 page position paper, or
    • a 250-word statement about your background and motivation to participate in the workshop.

Submissions should be made via the enrolment form and sent as non-anonymised PDFs. Workshop participants must register for and attend the workshop in person.


Deadlines:
- Application to participate: 13 November 2025 (AoE)
(Submit either a short position paper or a short statement of interest)
- Notification of acceptance: 17 November 2025 (AoE)
- Workshop: 1 December 2025

The early registration deadline for MUM 2025 is 4 November 2025. Participants can also register for the workshop day only.
