Apologies for the cross-posting:

Virtual Workshop date and time: Sunday, October 17, 2021, from 12:00 to
14:00 Japan Standard Time

Registration closes on September 17, 2021.

Please reach out to inclusion-assets21 at acm.org if you have questions or
concerns.

The purpose of this event is three-fold: (1) to reflect on current
opportunities and challenges in accessibility research conducted in the
Asia and Oceania regions, (2) to explore alternative and empowering visions
for accessibility research and researchers in Asia and Oceania contexts,
where research agendas, user groups, and contexts transcend “user studies”
to include aspects of lived experiences, narratives, and stories, and (3)
to define and identify appropriate language to refer to disability groups
in the Asia and Oceania context, expanding the current terminology of
marginalization, underserved, and developing, to those of empowering,
equitable, and emancipatory.

Here is a tentative schedule:

· Settle in and introduce the purpose and agenda

· Short presentations from Invited guests about their research in Asia and
Oceania regions

· 2 breakouts for attendees to discuss topics of interest (see potential
list below)

· Share out from breakout conversations

· Next steps: Decide what to do with conversations and learnings from the
workshop

Potential breakout topics include: building community, culturally and
locally relevant data, methods, and research framings.

You can register for the workshop here:
