The Center for Human-Computer Interaction <https://hci.sbg.ac.at/> at the University of Salzburg, Austria, invites applications for a PhD position. The successful candidate will be affiliated to the Center for Human-Computer Interaction which is a highly interdisciplinary research group at the University of Salzburg. 

As part of an interdisciplinary team you will conduct research activities in national and international research projects.

Potential PhD directions for applicants include: 
	• Constructive design research on smart materials
	• Experimental engineering for novel interface technologies (e.g., sensor technology, RF based interfaces)

Your profile:
	• You completed your master studies in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Interface Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, or a related program that you consider relevant for the aforementioned research directions
	• You have excellent skills and practical experience in one or more of the following research areas: Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design Research, Tangible Interaction, Embodied Interaction, Physical Computing
	• You are passionate about creating things and eager to make them work
	• Your interests, skills, and experience cover several of the following areas:
		• Interaction design methods and tools
		• Rapid prototyping tools and materials
		• Physical Computing (including basic electrical engineering)
	• Preferably, you have a track record of research in the field of HCI / Interaction Design (at conferences such as TEI, CHI, UIST, ITS, MobileHCI)
	• You have excellent communication skills in spoken and written English
