** Position: 18-month postdoctoral fellowship
** Subject: Spatiotemporal characterisation of mobile service demands
** Starting date: Early 2019 (flexible)
** Location: CNR-IEIIT, Turin, Italy (http://www.ieiit.cnr.it/)
** Supervisor: Marco Fiore (http://perso.citi.insa-lyon.fr/mfiore/)
We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to carry out cutting
edge research on the discovery of regular and anomalous spatial and temporal
patterns in the demands generated by thousands of mobile apps at different
geographical scales. Depending on mutual interest, the outcome will have
applications to, e.g., network management, urban geography, or demographics.
The position offers:
- the opportunity to work with datasets of traffic generated by individual
mobile apps running at millions of devices in an operational, large-scale
cellular network;
- a fully funded, 8-month visiting period at the University of Iowa, IO, in
the group of Prof. Zubair Shafiq (http://www.cs.uiowa.edu/~mshafiq);
- the prospect to publish at top-tier venues in networking and/or ubiquitous
computing.
The position requires:
- a MSc degree and a PhD in Computer Science or other relevant field;
- fluency in written and spoken English;
- a strong publication record commensurate with academic age;
- proven past experience in data-driven research.
Applicants should address a single PDF file to marco.fiore at ieiit.cnr.it, with:
- a complete curriculum vitae;
- the contact details of two referees;
- a one-page (hard limit) research statement with: (i) a brief one-paragraph
presentation of the two most important research achievements of the candidate,
and (ii) a statement of how the candidate's background and research interest
are relevant to the position, possibly but not necessarily in the light of the
recent works at the hosting groups [1-7].
Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
